Togo Sofa Dimensions and How to Plan Your Layout

The Togo is not a sofa you buy in a size. It is a set of modules that share a common geometry, and the layout you end up with depends on your floor plan more than on a catalogue.
That is a better system than fixed sectionals, but it does mean you have to plan. This is how to do that before you order, not after the freight arrives.
The numbers that stay the same
Every seating piece shares three dimensions:
- Height: 27″
- Depth: 40″
- Seat height: 15″
This is the part people miss when they compare a Togo to a normal sofa. A conventional seat sits around 18″ off the floor and about 36″ deep. The Togo is lower and deeper, which is exactly the intent: Ducaroy wanted seating that settles rather than stands to attention.
Two practical consequences.
A 40″ depth is a real footprint. Measure it on your floor with tape before you order. It is deeper than most people picture from photographs, and it is the dimension that decides whether a room works.
A 15″ seat changes what furniture goes near it. A standard 18″ coffee table will feel tall next to it. Aim lower, around 12″ to 14″. The same applies to side tables and anything you expect to reach without getting up.
Because all three numbers are shared across modules, any two pieces placed side by side line up at the back, arm and seat. That is what makes the range a system instead of a family of separate products.
The numbers that change
Width is the only variable, and it is what defines each module.

The Corner deserves an explanation, because it is the module people misunderstand. It is not a chaise and it is not a left-hand or right-hand configuration you commit to at checkout. It is a wedge that sits between two other pieces and turns the run 90 degrees. Nothing bolts together.
Which means the L you build today can become a straight run next year, or two separate seating areas in a different apartment. You are not buying a shape, you are buying pieces that make shapes.
Planning by room
Studio or one-bedroom
Loveseat plus ottoman. The loveseat handles daily seating, and the ottoman does three jobs: footrest, extra seat when someone visits, and chaise extension when you push it against the loveseat.
Leave 30″ to 36″ of walking clearance in front. With a 40″ deep sofa, that means the wall-to-wall run needs to be around 76″ minimum before the room starts to feel tight.
Standard living room
Sofa plus fireside chair plus ottoman. The sofa anchors the long wall, the chair sits at an angle, and the ottoman floats between them.
This is the layout most people picture when they picture a Togo, and it is the one that photographs well because the low profile lets the room read as open above the seat line.
L-shaped sectional
Sofa plus corner plus loveseat. Run the sofa along the longer wall, drop the corner into the angle, and the loveseat continues along the shorter one.
Measure both walls before ordering this one. The corner adds its own width to each leg of the L, so the total run on each side is longer than the sum of the two seating modules. This is the layout where a floor plan check pays for itself.
Open plan
A Togo works as a room divider in a way most sofas cannot, because the back is finished and only 27″ tall. You can float it in the middle of an open space without creating a wall. Two loveseats facing each other across a low table is a strong open-plan arrangement, and it leaves both sides usable.
Before you order: four measurements
Take these and you will not be surprised on delivery day.
- The wall run, wall to wall, where the sofa will sit.
- Depth from that wall, plus 30″ to 36″ clearance for walking.
- Doorways, hallways and lifts, narrowest point. A Togo has no legs to remove, so it goes through as one piece.
- Turns. The tight corner at the top of a staircase catches more deliveries than doorway width does.

A note on how it will feel
Dimensions tell you whether a sofa fits a room. They do not tell you whether it fits you, and on a Togo that gap is wider than usual.
A 15″ seat and a 40″ depth is a genuinely different way to sit. Most people sink in and understand it immediately. Some find it too low, particularly if getting up from a low seat is difficult. That is worth knowing about yourself before you commit, and it is why the return window matters more here than on a conventional sofa.
